These days I find myself consumed with learning and experiencing new digital communication technologies. I believe there is something “there” and one day we will see the deep space pulsar research of Joe Taylor, Nobel Prize winner, applied in future communication applications used on the internet. As a Ham radio operator, I enjoy using a new, recognized method of communicating, something created by Joe Taylor known as JT65a.
Today I woke up at 5:42 AM. After making sure my son Jake was awake at 6:01 AM (knowing he would then wake up his brother at 6:30), I went upstairs to my ham radio station to check the stations which were logged overnight.
By the time I got back downstairs to my morning reality, both Jake and Dylan were up and getting ready for school. 6 AM to 7 AM on weekdays has become my favorite part of the day. I enjoy being around my kids before school and sometimes having the chance to act as their personal short order cook. Today only Jake put me to work. I have started to appreciate the time I have left with my kids who are now in the 11th grade. One more year my kids will be graduating high school. A few months later when they are in college my short order cooking will be just a memory so I have made it a point to make the most of the seemingly little moments each day.
After my kids went on their bus around 7:20 AM, my twitter day began.
Since 2007, each morning I start my twitter day with a simple “Good Morning.” I enjoy the randomness of who responds to my morning message. Over the years I have met some very interesting characters. Some conversations start and stop in the morning and others are carried out over a series of days and weeks. I find mornings to be an inspiring time of day to connect.
These days I live for the mornings.
Next time you have the chance, reach out and connect with someone. It could change your life.could change your life.
