the3six5 2011 Editor List

Recruit
2011 is almost upon us, and we are excited to be close to finishing our first year of this project and embarking on a new one. Given the great news we received today about our SXSW panel being selected, it's more important than ever that we evolve the project and the process fueling it.

That said, we're asking for our fans, and especially past authors, to collaborate with us and join us as editors of the3six5 project. Right now the following individuals have stepped up to take on the role of "editor" for a month. We hope more of you choose to join them!

What must the3six5 editors have? Overall, it's a commitment to the project ensures that ever single day of the year is filled with one person's voice. Specifically we're asking you:
  • Post participants' submissions each and every day, without exception, for one calendar month. (This includes weekends and holidays.) If there ends up being a problem with the original author, the editor must find a backup author.
  • If posts don't abide by the the3six5 guidelines, editors must work with authors to update the entry before it's posted.
  • Send out several reminders (including weekly and daily) to the3six5 participants.
  • Help maintain the 2011 author list and email database.
  • Help recruit new and notable writers to the project.

Just why would you want to become a the3six5 editor? There are three main reasons:

  • Visibility: First, you'll be part of one of the largest and most visible crowdsourced storytelling projects
  • Connections: Being a part of the3six5 team means you're part of an influential and high-profile professional community of web professionals, creatives, designers and other smart folks.
  • Education: We've both learned an incredible amount about crowdsourcing, management, and editing from this project and we know that the editors will have the same experience in 2011.
How are we going to select our 12 editors? It's quite simple: you can apply through a blog post on your own blog or, if you don't have a blog, through a video that you post on YouTube.

Your blog entry must be 365 words or fewer, the same as in a the3six5 post, and must tell us the following:
  • Why you should be selected as one of our editors
  •  A bit about your relevant experience (e.g. knowledge of the3six5 project, relevant blogging and/or editing experience)
  • Who in your network you can -- or would want to -- include in the projects. We're always on the lookout for interesting and well-known people to help boost the project's visibility
  • Which months (please select at least two to three) you would be available to edit

As we find new editors, we'll add them to the list above. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, or if you're throwing your name into the ring, please e-mail the3six5[at]gmail[dot]com with a link to your blog post or video entry.
