We would like to continue this project in 2012, and we're now asking you to once again consider being 1/365th of the story that will help create a time capsule for the coming year.
Some aspects of the project will remain the same, while others have been slightly tweaked. If you would like to participate in next year's the3six5 project, please read all of the following carefully:First, the old:Every day for 365 days, a different person will write an entry about their experiences and thoughts from that day. The key is that each post somehow relates to what's happening in the world within that specific 24 hours and how it relates to them. By doing so from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2012, we will have a snapshot of the entire year, told from the perspective of 365 individual voices. Volunteers from across the world will have a chance to pick a date of their choice based on availability. We believe everyone has a short story to tell that will help create the experience of living through a year in across the world. Each author will write a 365-word reflection, as well as a 140-character bio which will be posted to "lifestreaming" site Posterous at the3six5.com. Each post should include some sort of visual (e.g. a photo or video that YOU take, so we can use it at some point in the future, possibly.)If you are interested in being a participant, please email the3six5@gmail.com with subject line "2012 AUTHOR APPLICATION." Please include some information on the unique perspective you would bring to this project, and a date or window of time that you would be available. (NOTE: The date shouldn't have historical significance. We want you to write on random dates in the future and not try to prethink or prewrite your material. In other words, stay away from birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)Please read the the3six5 athor guidelines for more details. If you apply to be an author, we will assume you have read them.
The new:-12 editors will be managing the project, one per month, and they will be your day-to-day contacts in terms of reminders, editing, and answering basic questions about the project.- Authors will still be selected by site co-founders Daniel Honigman and Len Kendall, however editors will be able to suggest contributors. - 2010/11 authors are not eligible to be authors again. (Sorry, folks!)- We had a fair share of international contributors in 2010/11, we would like to expand on that. English-speaking international applicants will receive extra consideration. We are hoping for 20 percent or more of our authors to be based outside of the U.S.-The author selection process is not random. Last year, we received over 5,000 applications for only 365 spots. Passion, unique backgrounds and a strong online presence (in that order) will help us craft our list of authors.- With the exception of individuals who may put themselves or others at risk by revealing their identity, all authors must use their real name for their posts. This is a collection of non-fiction writing and as such, we believe that proper attribution is necessary.
